Picking up a win in conference is always great. Waldorf Volleyball did just that on Friday evening. They soon followed it up with a sweep of Mayville State in the home triangular.

Friday was a victory by a score of three sets to two to Valley City State at home on Country Night. They followed it up Saturday morning with a sweep over another conference opponent Mayville State defeating the Comets by a final of 3-0. After a match break Waldorf played Grace and took them the distance before falling 3-2 for the first time since Tuesday evening against Clarke.

“Winning at home is always fun!” head volleyball Coach Paul Meyer said.

Waldorf went 2-2 in the past week after facing some stout competition. Clarke came to town on Tuesday evening, and Waldorf fell 3-0 in a sweep.

“We knew coming in that this was going to be a close match. Yes it was 3-0, but the sets were close, and we took them to the point every time.” Meyer said after his team’s loss on Tuesday night, “We had some pieces missing as Kayla Budgins is out with injury, but I was pleased with the adjustments that we made.”

After the tough drop, the Warriors rebounded immediately with that huge win over VCSU. The Friday and Saturday games were a huge boost of confidence for the Warriors as they continue conference.

“Our two conference wins were huge for us this past week and helped us gain confidence going into another big conference weekend,” senior Megan Perkins said.

Waldorf hits the road on homecoming weekend starting the two-day conference road trip on Friday as they head to Presentation College and then on to Dakota State Saturday. The Warriors will return home next week on October 11th to take on Bethany Luthern College for Pink Out Night. Game time will be 7pm.
