Forest City- Waldorf ended Homecoming week with a bang as the Warriors took over and defended their home turf at Bolstorff Field winning 48-14 over Mayville State.

The first half was a back and forth game between the two teams as the Comets were the first to score. After Waldorf made an error on their third possession by fumbling on two carries, the Comets jumped on the second one to be down at Waldorf’s 4-yard line.

Following the Comet’s score, Waldorf drove down the field to tie the game on a quarterback run for two yards by Hilton Joseph.

Going into the second quarter tied at 7-7, the Comets answered back after nine plays with their running-back Preston Hamlete to lead 14-7.

The Warriors then went on a nine play drive for 75 yards for Joseph to throw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Samuel Huntley. Lavelle Cook would go on to miss the extra point, making it a 14-13 score game.

After a punt by the Comets, the Warriors would spend the next 2:44 on a 14 play drive for 80 yards as running-back, Tyron Jones, ran it in for a one-yard touchdown. Waldorf left only 0:10 seconds left on the clock after going up 20-14 to end the half.

The rest of the way, the Warriors would run away with the game as they received the ball at the beginning of the second half.

The Comets defense broke down on two drives as the Warriors scored after one pass that went 58-yards on a 3 play drive. They also had a long run that went for a score on a 57-yard run.

The Warriors went on to end the day jumping ahead to 5-4 on the season. With this being the first year for this coaching staff, this is the best that the Warriors’ football team has done in the last decade.

Next week the Warriors will have their bye week and will return on November 4th at home as they play Presentation College to try to go 6-4 on their season.
