By Aaron Schneider

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Waldorf College women’s soccer team fell short in a 1-0 loss to the University of Jamestown during Saturday’s North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) matchup.

In a defensive showdown between the Warriors (3-13, 0-3) and Jimmies (7-6-1, 1-2), the two teams combined for a total of 11 shots on goal.

Junior Brittney Thornton turned in Waldorf’s only shot on goal. Goalkeeper Charlotte Madrid faced 10 shots and the junior collected nine saves on the day for the Warriors.

Waldorf and Jamestown were scoreless until Bailey Boraas knocked in the match’s only goal off a pass from Olivia Rivas during the 82nd minute.

The Warriors close out the regular season next Friday as they host Bellevue University (10-3, 2-1) in a 3 p.m. NSAA matchup. Bellevue is receiving votes in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) poll.
