Warriors hold fourth after third round of NSAA Championships

LINCOLN, Nebraska – The Waldorf University women’s golf team holds onto fourth place after the third round of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Championships.
Putting together an 18-hole team score of 342 strokes on Monday, the Warriors enter the final round of the cumulative 72-hole conference tournament with a team score of 1,043. The first two rounds were completed in September at Oxbow, North Dakota.
Waldorf’s Fernanda Valdes sits in a fourth-place tie with a 54-hole score of 242 after shooting a third-round score of 80 on the par-71 layout at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course.
Maggie Peters holds 10th for the Warriors with a score of 258 following an 85-stroke performance in the third round.
Waldorf’s Kailee Ward and Trinity Hill carded third-round scores of 94 and 101, respectively. Hill sits in 14th with 276 strokes while Ward holds 16th with 290 strokes.
Sophomore Hallie Hauer, who did not compete for the Warriors during the fall portion of the tournament, concluded Monday’s action with an 83.
Bellevue University, which is ranked No. 8 in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) poll, leads the field with a team score of 927.
Viterbo University sits in second with 1,013 strokes. University of Jamestown (1,040) is currently receiving votes in the national poll and owns third, sitting three strokes ahead of the Waldorf (1,043). Valley City State University (1,227) rounds out the team standings in fifth.
Bellevue’s Wendy Monfort and Natalia Soria share a first-place tie with individual scores of 233 while Bellevue’s Karissa Moreland sits in third, two strokes out of the lead with a 235.
The top team and individual advances to the NAIA National Championships, set for May 17-20 at Savannah, Georgia.
Waldorf concludes the final round of the conference tournament on Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
