Waldorf teams up with Praying Pelican Missions

For spring break, a lot of people enjoy relaxing on the beach somewhere tropical. However, every year, Waldorf’s Campus Ministry group spends their break helping others and volunteering.
Last year, Campus Ministry took a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana. The group volunteered at a variety of places: a nursing home, a homeless shelter, a food donation center, a garden that provides food for a lot of people and many more places. Sophomore Samantha Rosenberg said “The trip was very fun and meaningful.”
The group not only volunteered at different organizations, but they also got to do a little site-seeing along the way. Senior Taylor Cullen said “I really enjoyed being able to tour the city of New Orleans, but my favorite was the day we went to Orange Beach, Alabama.”
For this year’s spring break mission trip, Waldorf is teaming up with Praying Pelican Missions. The group will be traveling to Providence, Rhode Island. The trip will take place March 4th- 10th.
The mission trip is open to all students. All students must be willing to help others, be open to new experiences and foods and be willing to grow in your faith and help others grow in their faith as well.
Praying Pelican Missions does mission trips all over the globe. In 2017, they will be helping with mission trips in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Central America and so many more places. Their mission is to prepare the Waldorf team to partner alongside local ministries to assist them in serving their communities.
Praying Pelican Mission began in 2003 only serving two different places in Belize. Then, they expanded to Jamaica in 2011. They now serve in hundreds of communities all over the world. Their main goal is to give mission trips the opportunity to make a genuine impact on a local community – in Waldorf’s case, that will be in Providence, Rhode Island.
