This past Saturday Waldorf College’s football team took on Presentation College. Waldorf was able to pull out a win with a score of 28-14.
Waldorf rushed for a total of 230 yards and passed for 155 yards. The total offense for Waldorf was 385 yards. Waldorf college had two rushers for over 100 yards. Julian Ampaw and Nate Johnson both rushed on the ground for over 100 yards.
Junior defensive linemen Christian Riccabona said, “I knew that we needed to stop the running game for Presentation and I believe that we got the job done as a unit. We were able to stop them and work as a whole team this week on all three phases and get the win.”
Waldorf punished the Presentations defense with ground game to run out the clock and put points on the board. The air attack was also strong with three passing touchdowns from sophomore quarterback Cody Smith.
Smith said,” We were able to really execute on all levels of the game this week. I was able to find the receivers and offensive line was able to dominate at the line of scrimmage. Defense did their job and we just were able to pull out the win.”
Meanwhile Presentation College had a total offense of 330 yards. They had a strong air attack with 269 yard, but the Waldorf College defense was able to run the game by holding Presentation to only 65 yards of rushing. Waldorf was able to allow only 14 points on the board from Presentation College.
Sophomore offensive linemen Matthew Sink said, “This weeks win was great in all aspects. We, as an offense, were able to dominate and execute as a unit. I am more proud of how my offensive line work together and just beat up on the defense that Presentation put in front of us. It is always nice to have two of your running backs rush for 100 plus yards. Now we just need to get better for next week.”
Waldorf plays Jamestown on Saturday, Oct. 31 when they travel to North Dakota.
