The Waldorf Football team welcomed 37 new members, 11 of which are from Iowa, to the Warrior family on Wednesday February 7, 2018.

Coach Josh Littrell, who is in his first year here at Waldorf, secured its first winning season with a 7-4 overall record and an undefeated record of 6-0 at the Bolstorff field.

“When I came in, I knew I had to change the culture.” said Littrell. “If they can get it done off the field, they can finish the job on the field.”

With one of the fastest starts to recruiting in the NAIA history, Coach Litrell and staff have written confirmation from 37 new members and are in the final stages of signing 20 more.

“I’m excited to watch our team grow.” Said Littrell. “I just want to see the jump from year one to year two.”

When talking to recruits, Littrell’s biggest selling point was “that you’re going to develop a world view, we got black, white, brown and purple here at Waldorf.” Said Littrell

Junior Benjamin Mau, who is from Germany, enjoys the decision he made to come to the United States and play for Waldorf.

“I have made so many friends from all around the country.” Said Mau “We have guys from Florida, California, Poland and more guys from Germany. It’s a cool experience to be able to have.”

One of the new changes that was implemented throughout the Warriors’ season was the “Hardhat Mentality”. It was brought in by Coach Littrell and staff to implement a hard work, no excuses kind of attitude.

“That hard hat mentality is what we need if we want to win more football games.” Said Littrell “We just hope to continue to put a team on the field that is going to represent this university in a world class manner.”

The coaching staff is looking forward to next season, and to building the programs numbers up even more. The Warriors will take the field again next fall.
