Waldorf Breaks Records at the Indoor Track Conference Meet

On Feb. 22, the Waldorf University track and field team had its indoor conference meet.
At Waldorf, the track team has two different seasons: one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor season comes first and is followed by the outdoor season.
The meet was held at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota and a number of Waldorf students walked away with medals.
The Warriors hit an NAIA national qualifying mark, won a pair of North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) titles and set eight new school records.
Damarre Martin hit an automatic qualifying mark in the men’s 400 meters, finishing second overall in the NSAA and earning All-NSAA honors in the event.
Camara Green won the women’s triple-jump title.
The Warrior men’s 4×400-meter relay also claimed an NSAA title. The Waldorf women were third in the team standings and the men finished fifth.
“I believe that the freshman class this year has carried the team for the most part,” freshman Dillan Plummer said. “If you look at the results, a good amount of us got top six in our events.”
Freshman Andrew Huber was seeded seventh and won third place in the 800 meter run.
“As my former teammate once said, ‘I gave more than I had,’” Huber said about his performance.
Along with Huber, freshman Wade Baker, beat his own school record in the shot put.
With the indoor track season coming to an end, students are looking forward to what the outdoor season will have in store.
