Theatre Department Hosts Annual Haunted House
By Austin Siegal
The Waldorf Theatre Department always hosts an annual haunted house on campus for fundraising and for the locals of Forest City to come and have a little fun.
Lead by the head of the Theatre Department Bob AuFrance, the students of the theatre department all get together and brainstorm random spooky ideas to include in the haunted house each year.
This year featured a variety of attractions in the spooky tour, such as smoke and creepy colored lights as well as excellent actors all over.
Right as people walk in the door, they are greeted by a zombie wandering in a graveyard. The designs and all the decorations did not disappoint.
Senior theatre major Kaitlin Rodriguez was the technical operator for this year’s edition of the haunted house, she loved seeing the fear on peoples faces again.
“As tech, my favorite part of the haunted house every year would be hiding in the dark corners in the theatre and watching families and college’s students get scared and spooked by our actors. It is funny watching grown adults get spooked walking through.”
The haunted house required everyone who entered to wear a mask. If guests did not have one, they could purchase one for 5 dollars. Entry to the event was also 5 dollars as well.
“It is fun to just get away from school and assignments and just be a kid for a few minutes and run around having fun in the haunted house.” said Slater Gifford, a senior Criminal Justice major.
The haunted house is always a nice fundraiser for the theatre department and gives them a chance to use old costumes and items for a good purpose rather than have the items sit on a shelf collecting dust.
The attraction will most definitely make a return in 2022 and should expect to be bigger and better than ever.
