If you are looking for a new place to exercise, Forest City’s new YMCA’s strength room will be the place to go.
Announced on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 was the closure of the YMCA strength room for a major remodel. The remodel began at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. The announcement stated all the information about the process and new equipment which will be installed. This change was declared to take up to ten days until members could have access to the new equipment. The YMCA hopes to complete the project by next week.
The limit of space was the main complaint relevant to the strength room’s previous state. With this new remodel and new equipment, the YMCA believes it will help add more space for members’ workouts. The new equipment could allow for some new class offerings as well. Alex Brayton, Director of Programs at the YMCA, is ready for this new change. “It will offer up a space for our members to experience a different type of fitness,” Brayton said.
“I’m pretty happy they are remodeling, and I’m excited to see what’s new,” Senior Waldorf Student German Ponce said.
The YMCA will be replacing mostly all the equipment in the room. The outdated, pin-adjustable equipment that has been well used and is in need of replacing. A renovating addition to the strength room will be two squat racks that will replace the original smith machine. Rowing machines were also mentioned in with the new equipment which has been used in successful workout routines. An assortment of kettlebells, dumbbells, ropes, bands and more will make this remodel a great change to the Forest City YMCA.
“We have equipment from LifeFitness, Rogue, TRX, Body-Solid and other leading brands coming into our strength room,” Brayton said.
