On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the men’s basketball team had their last home game of the season against Mount Mercy. The game was very close with an end score of Warriors- 74 and Mount Mercy – 81. It was a tough loss for the warriors, but they say they are looking forward to ending the season strong, and doing something never done before for Waldorf basketball, go to nationals.
Before the game, the team recognized their two seniors, Erik Brewer and Tyler Parrish. These two have put their all into this team in hopes of making it the best it could be. Their last season as warriors has been very successful, with an overall record of 16 wins and 13 losses, with eight of those wins being at home. The boy’s next game is Feb. 25, against Dakota state, for the quarterfinal of the NSAA Tournament.
“This season was definitely a roller coaster,” Brewer said. “Probably the most interesting and fun team I have been a part of out of all my four years here. As the season comes to an end I’m now realizing how fast everything comes and goes.” Brewer is hoping to continue his basketball career after graduation. He has recently received offers overseas, in places such as Australia and England. Brewer will graduate with a degree in sports management.
Parrish has also had a very successful basketball career here at Waldorf, “However this year ends I have had a great experience with this team and my previous teams here. I have met many friends/brothers throw Waldorf, the memories and people will never be forgotten. As I look forward in life, I hope to continue a career in basketball at a higher level.” says Parrish. He is finishing the year with a bachelor degree in physical education.
