February 17 Luise V. Hanson Library hosted a Cat Video Film Festival for students to enjoy.
Luise V. Hanson Library Director, Derrick Burton said, “The Internet Cat Video Film Festival was an opportunity for fans of cats and cat videos to watch some of the Internet’s best collections and compilations of Cat Footage. We had popcorn and cookies, as well as juice and water available as well.”
“This was our first ever Internet Cat Video Film Festival, but I think we would certainly do the event again, maybe later in the semester or as part of our Night Against Procrastination event,”Burton said. “While we’d love to claim credit for the idea, a number of organizations and libraries have hosted similar events. We did however want to do a fun activity in February and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.”
Burton explained the videos were selected by Luise V. Hanson’s Library Assistant, Amanda Geelan.
“She has much better taste and appreciation than myself when it comes to cute things,” Burton said. “She spent hours carefully curating and cultivating a list that would both delight and amuse.”
Luise V. Hanson Library Reference and Instruction Librarian, Elizabeth Kunze said, “I enjoyed watching the videos. I like cats a lot more than they like me so cat videos are a good way to love cats without having to bother a real cat.”
“As always, we appreciate the support of both the Waldorf College student body and the residents of Forest City who come out to show love for our various events,” Burton said. “They may not always be perfect, but we are constantly trying to deliver fun and engaging programs to the community.”
