Cavs Vs. Wolves Recap
By: Leland March
Waldorf University is known for having some pretty fun recreational tips, and this week’s trip was no disappointment as students got to go see Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavs play against Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves. There was love in the air on this occasion, because the game was held on February 14th, better yet known as Valentine’s Day.
The Cavs, ironically, would be playing without Kevin Love on this Valentine’s Day evening. The star power forward would miss this game due to knee surgery. Although Love was out, that didn’t stop Lebron James, Kyrie Irving and the Cavs from putting on a show. James had 25 points and 14 rebounds to conclude the night while Kyrie Irving also pitched in with 25 points with 7 assists. On the other end of the scoreboard was the Timberwolves and Andrew Wiggins who had a season high 41 points. The young Timberwolves fought tooth and nail with the veteran lead Cavs, but, ultimately, they couldn’t execute down the stretch to steal a game from the Cavs.
Brett Geelan is the C.I.C Desk Director at Waldorf, and he is also in charge of recreational trips. Geelan took 10 students to see this marquee matchup. The students got to sit in section 212, which isn’t a bad spot to be sitting in considering the game was sold out.
Alex Burns, who was one of the students who went on the trip, he said, “The game was a fun experience and fun night altogether.” Alex also got to take a lot of pictures at the game.
The final score of the game was 116 to 108 giving the Cavs their 38th win of the season, giving them a record of 38 and 16. The Wolves would fall to a record of 21 wins and 35 loses. Either way, the game was a fun experience for Waldorf students.
