“Someday, Someday, Maybe” Book Review by Jaci Olson

Someday, Someday, Maybe is a New York Times Bestseller written by Gilmore Girls and Parenthood star, Lauren Graham. This witty and relatable debut novel is about a struggling, young actress trying to make it in New York City.
Someday, Someday, Maybe was published on Mar. 25, 2014. It tells the story of Franny Banks who only has six months left of the three-year deadline she set for herself when she came to New York, dreaming of Broadway. Everyone tells her she needs a backup plan, but she’s not ready to give up on her goal of having a career like Meryl Streep-not yet.
Franny’s upcoming showcase is where she’ll finally have a chance. But she can’t let herself be distracted by James Franklin, a flirt and the most successful actor in her class, even though he’s suddenly started paying attention. Meanwhile, her bank account is dangerously low, her father wants her to come home and her agent doesn’t return her calls. For some reason, she keeps believing she just might get what she came for.
Graham captures a story about hopes and dreams, being young in a new city and wanting something deeply and desperately. It’s about finding love, finding yourself and finding an acting job.
Someday, Someday, Maybe was an excellent book. I loved it, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relatable, funny read. Graham’s voice is funny, and her charming writing style really drew me in. I did think that the ending was abrupt, and I wished there was more to the story. I didn’t want the book to end like it did. However, the characters are relatable, and the romantic twists really kept me reading. This book was a great read.
