Abrahamson tabbed NSAA Player of the Week

FOREST CITY – Waldorf University softball player Jessica Abrahamson was tabbed the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Player of the Week on Monday.
Abrahamson, who was announced as Player of the Week on Monday, powered to a .529 batting average and a 1.059 slugging percentage while helping the Warriors (13-21, 7-9) to a 6-0 record during the week. The senior from West Bend went 9-for-17 at the plate with two home runs, three doubles, 11 RBIs and seven runs scored.
Abrahamson crushed a three-run blast, going 2-for-3 during Tuesday’s 10-5 nonconference win over Clarke University (19-19) at Forest City. She provided a single and two RBIs to help the Warriors to a 14-6 win to open Sunday’s conference home doubleheader with Dakota State University (7-19, 3-13). Abrahamson went 4-for-4, going yard with a three-run shot while adding two doubles and four RBIs in a 12-4 victory over the Trojans. The Warriors won both games in five innings on account of the eight-run mercy rule.
On the season, Abrahamson holds a .365 batting average with 38 total hits and leads the Warriors with a .552 slugging percentage. She has contributed three homers, nine doubles and 26 RBIs throughout the season. Abrahamson owns a .407 on-base percentage.
Waldorf’s four-game sweep over Dakota State propelled the Warriors to a fifth-place tie with Presentation College (19-23, 7-9) in the conference standings.
The Warriors continue action on Thursday with a nonconference doubleheader with Dordt College (19-15), starting at 5 p.m. at Sioux Center. Waldorf also faces Valley City State University (25-8, 9-3) in a pair of NSAA doubleheaders at Valley City, North Dakota, slated to begin Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
