Housing selection process is underway

Students all over campus are currently in the process of signing up for housing for the upcoming school year.
Area coordinator Anne Marie Werthmann is involved with the housing process.
“Housing sign ups start with the squatter’s rights forms for students to turn in before spring break,” Werthmann said. Squatter’s rights are for students who want to stay in the same room they had the previous school year.
“Then we need the theme houses and Timberland Apartment forms to be turned in,” Werthmann said, “because we do those interviews after spring break. Also after spring break is pick a chip just in case students who applied don’t get a house or apartment. We encourage everyone to pick a chip just in case.”
Students picked a poker chip in the student life office and the number on the chip was related to the order in which they chose their housing options.
“On March 31, we did housing sign ups in Gatsby’s below the Campus Center where people pick their rooms and roommates,” said Werthmann.
Sharese Hall, another area coordinator, also helped the housing process.
“For the students who don’t sign up or didn’t get a chance to sign up yet, all paper work is in the residence life office in the Campus Center,” said Hall. “Those who are required to live on campus but didn’t sign up are automatically signed up, so those that want a say should come sign up for themselves. Anybody that is 21 or moving off campus next year needs to apply from student life and have that turned in before the first day of classes.”
