Warriors take home all three NSAA weekly awards
On Saturday, November 14 the Waldorf College football team garnered recognition from the North Star Athletic Association, sweeping the weekly conference awards after their victory over Trinity Bible College. The Warriors took home awards for offensive, defensive and special teams Player of the Week awards.
On the offensive side of the ball, freshman quarterback Brandon Butts seemingly effortlessly carved his way through the Trinity Bible College defense. The Blountsville, Alabama native earned player of the week by completing all eight of his passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 26 yards and a touchdown.
Kicker Dustin Wilke earned special teams Player of the Week by converting all seven of his point-after-touchdown attempts and nailing a 32-yard field goal. Wilke, a senior from Holzgerlingen, Germany scored 10 total points, winning this award for the third time this season.
Defensively, linebacker Jacob Louisius won defensive Player of the Week with five total tackles, three of them solo. He also had a 39-yard interception return for touchdown.
“It feels great, “ said Louisius, a freshman from Homestead, Florida. “It’s really great seeing the entire team succeed, and for us to get awards on each side of the ball is fantastic. Next year, we are looking to do this a lot more often.”
