Come and get your money back! Textbook buyback days are here

With finals just around the corner and fall semester ending everybody needs a little pick me up. The Waldorf college bookstore is giving you a chance to earn a little cash at the end of the semester by selling you’re new or used textbooks. Bookstore manager Karla Schaefer thinks this is a great opportunity for students.
“Some colleges don’t even offer buyback. We try to help our students and give them the most money we can. We do this because we love them,” Schaefer said.
As with many things in the world, their are mixed reviews about the buyback. Some students think the bookstore buyback is not at all what it is cracked up to be. Junior Emily Kaune thinks the buyback can be a ripoff.
“I pay a ton of money for my books and get not even half of the money back in return,” Kaune said.
People may have a negative outlook on the buyback but it all depends on how their book is selling nationwide.
The things people don’t know about the buyback is that when selling your book back, if there is a stock of that certain book in stores already, the bookstore cannot buy more of that same book and it would go to the wholesaler. Also if the book is an old edition and the course is moving to a new edition the next semester, those books do not get bought back. The bookstore has no control over what the wholesaler demands.
To help with this problem the Waldorf College bookstore has implemented a guaranteed buyback price for some books. There is a note on the tag when purchasing your books what the guaranteed buyback price is. Another way the bookstore has made buyback better is by now accepting books you bought outside of the bookstore to be bought back also.
The bookstore buyback dates are Tuesday Dec.8 from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m., Wednesday Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Friday Dec. 11, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Please remember student i.d.’s are required.
