Erik Brewer : Spotlight Athlete of the week!

Senior Erik Brewer , number 21 on the Men’s basketball team, was the spotlight athlete of the week leading the team to a 78-68 overtime victory against Mount Marty College. During his four years at Waldorf College Brewer has accumulated 1,332 points which broke the all time scoring record once held by Jordan nelson. Brewer scored 13 points and brought down six rebounds while shooting 7-of-8 at the free-throw line.
Brewer, a native from Las Vegas and a sports management major, has always loved the game of  basketball.
“Basketball is my stress reliever, basketball is what I live for,” Brewer said.
Brewer started to play basketball at 11 years old. He started on a travel team. He continued to play throughout middle school at Brinley Middle school, then at Cimarron- Memorial High school where he was on the varsity team all four years, captain two years, leading score, conference MVP senior year and first team all conference junior and senior year. Brewer has also made first team all conference throughout his years playing for the warriors.
“Basketball has affected my life in many positive ways,” Brewer said. “It has helped me get good grades, taught me how to work well with others and it also has provided me with a college education that I am thankful for.”
When asked what he plans to do after college, Brewer said he hopes to continue his basketball career next year by playing oversea’s and in the NBA in the future.
“I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I would like to continue playing until I physically cant anymore,” Bewer said.
