Top-ranked Lynx sweep No. 10 Waldorf

HAZELWOOD, Mo. – Lindenwood University-Belleville recorded its fourth straight win, completing the series sweep over the Waldorf College hockey team with a 4-1 victory on Saturday.
Matthew Liggett provided the lone goal for the Warriors (12-8) while freshman Ryan Veillet and senior Reed Loucks contributed assists.
Daniel Hussey scored two goals to lead the way for the Lynx (17-3), who entered the series finale ranked No. 1 in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II Central Region poll. Nine different players tallied at least one point for Lindenwood-Belleville.
Hussey put the puck between the pipes for his first goal of the contest during the 13th minute of the opening period. Mikael Lengmo and William Pederson assisted on the score.
Liggett drilled the equalizer for No. 10 Waldorf in the ninth minute of the second period. It was the seventh goal of the season for the sophomore defenseman from Langley, British Columbia.
Lindenwood-Belleville’s Tanner Duffney notched the game-winning goal less than three minutes later off an assist from Zach Crawford.
Hussey scored for the second time of the day, converting on a power play in the seventh minute of the third period. Nicholas Pagliacci and Pedersen were credited with assists.
The Lynx received an insurance goal from Duane Wainman three minutes later. Christian Tyson and Derek Van Ness dished out assists.
The Warriors outshot Lindenwood-Belleville by a 27-21 margin. Waldorf sophomore goaltender Ronald Paulson closed out the game with 17 saves.
The Warriors own a 4-2 record in the Northern Collegiate Hockey League (NCHL) standings and return to conference play next weekend as they host conference-leading No. 6 Lewis University (14-0-1, 8-0) at Albert Lea, Minnesota. Game times are set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
