Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cup of raw peanuts or nuts of choice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions:

Butter the sides of a 3-quart saucepan.

In the saucepan, combine the sugar, syrup, water and butter. Stir the mix over medium heat until it boils at 275 F.

Add the nuts and continue to stir. Continue to cook it until it reaches 295 F.

Remove the pan from the heat source when the mix becomes golden brown. Immediately add the baking soda and stir the mixture well.

Using a buttered baking sheet, pour out the mix from the saucepan.

For a thin brittle, spread the mixture over two baking sheets. Let the peanut brittle cool and break it into pieces to serve and eat.
